Matter, ash, fire, pigment — these are not metaphors. They are the thing itself. Each layer is a decision made under pressure, irreversible, accumulated until the surface holds what language cannot.
Art, at its most honest, is not comfort. It is the body saying: I am fragile, but I am here.
Where others explain, IONA accumulates. Where others decorate, IONA indicts.
I do not create to please. I create to reveal.
Totality constructed fragment by fragment. Layer by layer. Pressure applied until the surface holds what cannot be said.
Not matter as metaphor. Matter as fact.
The fragment is not a detail. It is the argument.

Where Tàpies used silence, IONA uses weight. Where Burri burned, IONA accumulates. Where Fautrier suggested, IONA insists. Where Schultze decomposed, IONA constructs.
The work does not represent. It is.
